I Learned Something Today!

I learned something today. I couldn't figure out what I was missing on my blog dashboard that would allow me to make my photos clickable and enlarge in a separate window. I thought there was a setting, somewhere, that I needed to click.

Well, when in doubt try HELP (I said to myself). So I looked around Blogger help and found out that when photos are uploaded they automatically go to the top of the page. I have been dragging my photos to appear below my text. When the photos are moved from their "top of page" position, it breaks an HTML code that allows the photos to be clickable/enlarged. AH HA! So I took the photos in my first few posts, deleted them, and then uploaded them again and left them in the TOP position--and they're clickable! YAY! A workaround was listed that involved cutting and pasting HTML code, but I don't want to mess with that so I'll just let the photos stay at the top of my posts.

Hold My Hand

This is a 2-part ATC I did for my ATC Workshop. We are following Bernie Berlin's ATC Workshop book and this ATC would be considered an ultracard. Not really a diptych, because I chose not to connect it, but I wanted the two ATCs to be able to stand alone also.

Art Play Day Thursday

My art play on Thursday was dedicated to catching up on my ATC Workshop lessons for the A.R.T. Yahoo group. The workshop is based on Bernie Berlin's ATC Workshop book. The "friendly plastic" lesson was okay. I have never worked with friendly plastic, and probably won't use it again. I think I was channeling the Partridge Family Bus when I made this ATC. Wished I'd left off the little jewels.

The other lesson I completed was the Mica lesson. I have never worked with mica, but I would most likely use it again. Francine was so wonderful to share a piece of mica with me, because I didn't have any. I sandwiched a transparency between two thin layers of mica. One of the mica layers was tinted with alcohol inks. I used eyelets to attach the mica to the ATC base. I like the way this ATC turned out. I think it needs something else?

Sunset Altered Journal

The following photos are scans of journal pages that I created for my book in the WeDreamInColor (yahoo) Altered Journal Round-Robin. This was the very first altered "journal" that I had ever created. I chose the colors of a sunset for my theme. I can't wait to see the journal after all of these wonderful artists add their work to it and it finally comes home next summer!

Thinking Autumn

On the Altered_stART group I moderate, I am participating in an autumn-themed fat book page swap. The image of the woman came from DigitalCollageSheets, although it's hard to tell after I distressed the bottom part with walnut ink and the face is covered with micro-mini beads. The BG paper started as decorative scrapbook paper which I whitewashed, then covered with matte gel medium, and then aged with walnut ink. I used a French text stamp to add the lettering to the BG. The swirly is also a stamp. The rest is pretty much self-explanatory.

Sunday's Play

Sunday (and a little bit of Monday's) art play was spent working on two projects for the Altered_stART Yahoo group that I moderate. I'm trying to be more active in their monthly lottery and bi-weekly ATC mingle. These are my two projects for those events: (4x4 Fat Book Page: The Diva Witches)

I spent this afternoon & evening working on my spread for Peggy's Green & Yellow Journal for the We Dream In Color round-robin. I had fun working on this spread. The toughest part was coming up with things that were yellow and green besides the obvious. :)

Yay! I finally finished my halloween tags for Megan's Halloween Tag Swap. Whoa! I hope that everyone likes them as I put a ton of work into them. The witch is on the tag front and "eek" is on the back. For the swap tags, I've added my info up the left side of the back in very teeny tiny print.

New Journal Page

Today I wanted to complete my page for Kimberly's "Faces" art journal. The instructions for this book stated that we were to paint a face in a color. I used blues for mine. Kimberly had sketched out the shape/size of the head and shoulders so that the heads will be consistently sized. This journal was a super hard challenge for me. I am not an artist. I have a really tough time drawing a stick figure, but I can honestly say that I gave Kim's page 100% effort.

Stuff

Back about 2 months ago, I took down my original blog. I'm going through some of my work and reposting the "good" stuff. This is a journal I did for Altered_Pages Journal Round-Robin. It's the first RR I've ever participated in. I chose "four letter words" as my theme.

Experiments in Soldering

Here is the first soldered/altered micrcoscope slide I did. I haven't soldered for at least 9 years when I did a little stained glass work. Soldering looks so easy on my instructional DVD! I did this slide for my friend, Francine, who owns Altered_stART (Yahoo group).

Altered Book: My Own Experiment!

After seeing Dorothy's altered book a few weeks ago, and having the priviledge to work in it, I decided to try altering my own book. The book was found at a local thrift store and it's called "Deadly Decisions" so I think I will try and incorporate the theme/title into my book. Here's the very first spread I did in the book. It was quite random, just picking a page in the middle of the book, and finding some random words to work into the design.

Altered Journal: Monochromatic

In the WeDreamInColor Altered Journal/Book RR, my first book to work in was Jennifer's monochromatic book. It was my very first ever layout in an altered book. Okay-I do know that it's not 100% monochromatic but I was pretty happy with it.

Altered Journal: Blues Lessons

I created this spread for the WeDreamInColor Altered Book/Journal RR that I'm participating in. This is Dorothy's book and it's an actual book! It was so cool to hold an actual altered book in my hands, complete with pull-outs and drawers. It's fabulous! Dorothy's color choice was blue.
